in the trees

Temperatures dipped below 100 today which means I was willing to go outside and photograph some quilts.  Yup, ten degrees is the difference between too hot to hold up a quilt outside and not.
Now you know!
{wink}

So jeez, I think I started this quilt in February?  Maybe?  March?  No later than March, so maybe it was February.  Spring is a distant blur.  Lets just say February?
So I started this quilt in February....

The pattern is In the Trees.  It's one of those DS Quilts patterns for McCalls you can find at Joann's.
Fabric is Echo by Lotta Jansdotter.

I found the pattern to be a bit, hmmm, well lets just say I ended up using 4 templates out of like 16.
I did one whole row before deciding I suck at eyeballing triangles.
After ripping all those seams I sat down and marked every piece with a 1/4 inch line so everything lined up.

The back is just some leftovers sewn together.
More practical than anything!

The quilting was done by my friend Annie over at A Little Vinaigrette.
It's done in a free hand figure eight style of varying heights.

It's something like 70 x 90.  Pretty big for me.
I like the simplicity of the design and all the white space, but most of all I like that it's done.
Phew!

Very nice! You brought this to the last meeting, right?

Thank goodness for the break in temps today, and the rain we finally got! I have had the kids do a "rain dance" the past few nights because we could hear the thunder but never got any rain. 12 days in the 100+ temps and no rain... SUCKS!

It is pretty, but looks like a lot of hard work for sure! I like the echo on the white background it makes it pop!

Congrats on the finish! I think those trees are a great use for Echo. Echo seems like a "spikey" collection. Well done!
